Bird report

The northern saw-whet owl has very fast wingbeats. It is 18 to 21 cm long. It's wingspan is 42 to 48 cm. It weighs 100 g. They have one brood of 4 to 7 eggs each year. They eat insects, small mammals and birds. The stamp that we put on the back of the cards that we are making is a saw-whet owl.

This bird report, by Doug McRae, about birds seen in Presqu'ile Provincial Park, includes this saw-whet owl picture.

Other owls in North America are barn owl, flammulated owl, western screech owl, eastern screech owl, whiskered screech owl, great horned owl, snowy owl, northern hawk owl, northern pygmy owl, elf owl, burrowing owl, spotted owl, barred owl, great grey owl, long-eared owl, short-eared owl, and boreal owl.

We are 5071 km from Tofino.
