The black-crowned night heron has a slow wing-beat, like most herons. It is 58 to 65 cm long with a wingspan of 1.1 to 1.2 m. It weighs 0.7 to 1 kg. That makes it quite a bit smaller than the great blue heron. It eats fish, crustaceans, mollusks and insects. We saw one at the George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary across the ditch from the gift shop. It was hiding in the trees. Can you find it? If you can't scroll down.
We are 4768 km from Tofino.
