We made it to Québec. The official language for Québec is french. Québec's official tree is yellow birch. The official flower is blue flag iris. Québec's official bird is the snowy owl, adopted in 1987. To learn more click here.
The snowy owl is 51 to 86 cm long. It's wingspan is 1.3 to 1.6 m. It weighs 1.6 to 2.9 kg. It can live for up to 9 years. It has one brood of between 3 and 12 eggs between May and September. It eats lots of lemmings, and other small mammals, birds and fish that it can find.
These are common mergansers chasing after one that has a fish. I chose common mergansers, because they are found in Québec, and we don't have a picture of a snowy owl.
