Yesterday we made it to Thunder Bay, so we had to pick a location to stop after Thunder Bay. That was a process. In the end we picked Catfish Lake. We considered stopping at Sault St. Marie and Little Current, but Sault St. Marie was off our route, and Little Current was really far away.
The First Nations called Thunder Bay "Animikie," which means "Thunder." The French added on bay when they called it "Baie de Tonnaire" which translates to "Thunder Bay."
Right now we are almost at the Terry Fox Memorial, we will get there today. It is 17 km out of Thunder Bay. We are eight kilometres away. It is there because that is where he forced to stop because he had cancer in his lungs. He was running his Marathon of Hope.
This is a Downy Woodpecker that is yelling at the branch, "Hey you bugs! Come out!" (Well, not really, but it's still funny.)
The Downy Woodpecker says, "We are 3493 km from Tofino."
Great entry today! The Terry Fox Memorial is a great place to stop for the day! Lovely park and amazing views! Love the comment from the Downy Woodpecker!!
