Thor Vikström donated his island, Île Ronde to Nature Conservancy of Canada to protect it. Lots of developers tried to buy it from him, but he wanted to protect the island for nature. It protects important habitat for northern map turtles, water birds including wood ducks, American wigeons, and gadwalls and shagbark hickory trees.
