Something New

We passed Îles de l'Estuaire National Wildlife Area, which has the largest breeding colonies of Razorbills, Black Guillemots, and Common Eiders.


Common Eiders eat aquatic invertebrates. They are 50 to 71 cm long, with a wingspan of up to 108 cm, and weigh 1.2 to 2.6 kg. They live for up to 21 years. People will go to empty eider nests and harvest the down feathers from to make warm coats and duvets.
